Hello all! Thank you so much for taking the time to check out the shiny new website for Disrupt! The purpose of this blog is to keep everyone updated on the progress of the musical as it (hopefully) makes its way to the stage. Since this is the first post, let's play a little catch-up:
- The book writing process began last summer--I've been working on this for more than a year already!
- Throughout the school year, I squeezed in editing sessions when I could--special thanks to Professor Kevin DiPirro for going through the whole book with me and giving me meticulous feedback.
- Composition of the songs began in the fall--thank you to the talented Ian Lim for taking on this project. You will all be very impressed with what he has come up with. He is continuing to compose the rest of the score this summer.
- I got a grant to continue work on the piece throughout this summer. I've edited the book many times with the help of expert editors and amazing friends (major gratitude to all of you who participated in my dessert-laden reading two weeks back). I am continuing to make edits--I've got a lot more dotting the I's and crossing the T's to go.
- I will be doing another more formal reading before school starts up again.
- Demos of two of the songs--"Disrupt" and "Dotting the I's"--have been recorded. Thank you to Bruce Posey for producing them in his amazing recording studio and to Hanna Berggren for lending her incredible voice and interpretive talents on the tracks. Here is the link to hear them or check them out on the "Music Demos" page of the website.
TLDR version: Progress is chugging along--many thanks to the people who have helped me get this far.
